Yesterday we began a 40 day challenge at Connect.  It was a challenge to make the necessary changes in your life in order to see breakthrough.  As you read through Scripture, 40 is a very significant number.  Anytime God wanted to prepare someone for His purposes, he took 40 days.

Noah’s life was transformed by 40 days of rain

Moses was transformed by 40 days on Mt. Sinai

The 12 spies were transformed by 40 days in the Promised Land

Elijah was transformed when God gave him 40 days of strength from a single meal

David was transformed by Goliath’s 40 day challenge

The entire city of Nineveh was transformed when God gave the people 40 days to change

Jesus was empowered by 40 days in the wilderness

The disciples were transformed by 40 days with Jesus after His resurrection

The Purpose of Proverbs

¹ These are the proverbs of Solomon, David’s son, king of Israel.

lost | the series

We just finished up a series entitled, “Lost” @ Connect where we spent the entire month of March talking about how “lost people matter to God.” We went on and discussed that if “lost people matter to God,” then they should matter to us as well. All around you and I are people who are lost. They are lost spiritually, emotionally, financially, and even relationally. These people are not just on the other side of the church walls, they are in our congregations as well.

Our main text for this series was Luke 19:10. “For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost.” (NLT) As you read throughout the NT, you see Jesus on mission. He went out of His way at times just to encounter people who were in need of Him. His heart broke for the lost as it still does today. As a church, we spent most of our time reading through Luke 15 and studying the Lost Sheep, The Lost Coin and the story of the Prodigal Son. In the next couple of days, we will be providing the audio sermons and notes for each of the messages.

Question to Consider?

Connect Church is hosting Awake 24 this Friday & Saturday beginning at 7pm.  Awake 24 was birthed last year by the guys of  the Chilliwack Men’s Centre of BC Teen Challenge, with a desire to lift up the name of Jesus through worship, prayer and fellowship.  This year, 2 Chronicles 7:14 is the main text for the event.

“Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.’
